Visual Design Trends of 2023

Updated: Jan 24, 2023

After scouring the internet and social platforms we found various forecasts of trends in visual communication and graphic design. Almost everyone agrees that the design next year will be brighter, dominant, more imaginative and detailed. This type of tends is recommended mostly for web design, illustrations, social media design and creative production industries. If you have other tasks, then the trends may differ.

Neural Network and Ai-generated Art

The future is here, it’s no longer needed to browse stock mages or take pictures to receive a beautiful and creative illustration for your product. Just find a few keywords, be exact with what you want and the image will be brought to you by one of several apps. Machine learning is increasingly permeating our lives, and design is no exception.

2022 was a year of new discoveries such as neuro network deep images such as DeepDream by Google. It works by using images as input, detecting different features of the images, classifying them, and producing outputs. In addition we see a lot of use of 3d complicated graphics.

This year, artificial intelligence (AI) images took the world by storm after the launch of OpenAI DALL-E 2. It is an online image generator that creates graphics based on text descriptions.

3D is everywhere

3D is still at the forefront of design. You will notice it even in the most unpredictable places or where you usually do not pay attention. For example, in icons. The world is moving away from the usual minimalism and again comes to realism. Combining 3D and 2D is also gaining momentum from 2022. Three-dimensional hyperrealism in graphic design blends neatly with a two-dimensional style.

3d visuals are going strong because of easy way of visual interaction between potential customers and the product, thanks to which you can captivate them with your product.

Glass and crystal elements

There is a trend towards the introduction of 3D glass, crystals and crystal instead of the same gold. This includes glassmorphism - the desire for transparent and blurry backgrounds with a glass effect. Glass design, pictures, and help to focus the user's attention. Such a trend will show the face of modern graphic design and can be seen in Windows 11 and iOs products.

The 90 retro trend

Many of us fondly remember the end of the 20th century, all its attributes and spiritual atmosphere. Previously, web designers were fond of the era of the 80s, but in modern realities, the 90s are becoming a trend. For today's generation, the retro style may seem completely new, but it is definitely attention-grabbing.

This style refers to early versions of Windows with its sharp window outlines and flat geometric shapes. In the present, it is reflected with pixels, bright colors, unusual gradients and shades, template models of tape cassettes and iconic chewing gum.

Surrealism Maximalism

Another trend in design is the maximum surrealism in designs. It’s explained this by saying that the chaotic coronavirus pandemic provoked the end of minimalist design. From now on, storytelling and creatives will develop fantasy and crazy visuals that push the boundaries of the familiar.

Metaverse

When the word Metaverse is heard from all sides, it is not surprising that virtual reality has reached design as well. Immersive UX experiences, sci-fi imagery and futuristic colors and shades will also be popular in 2023. The world is striving to digitize everything that surrounds us. Today, designers are creating futuristic designs, and brands around the world believe in the art of immersive experiences. In 2023 we are looking forward to designs using liquid gradients, 3D components and neon color palettes.
